ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT FOR XAMK LEARN ENVIRONMENT
Southeastern Finland University of Applied Sciences aims to ensure the accessibility of its websites in accordance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services and the EU Accessibility Directive. This accessibility statement applies to the Xamk Learn website.
We are constantly working to improve accessibility and we are committed to improving the accessibility of digital services. In particular, the website needs to be improved on the following issues:
- Text equivalents of images and videos
- Subtitles of videos
- Accessibility of attachments files
TECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATION
The Xamk Learn learning environment is based on the open source Moodle platform. The website is designed to be compatible with the following browsers (the latest version available in the browser):
- Firefox
- Chrome
- Edge
- HTML
- CSS
- Javascript
ACCESSIBILITY OF THE SERVICE
The Xamk Learn website aims to meet levels A and AA of the requirements set out in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. The site is not yet fully compliant with the requirements.
CONTENT AND FUNCTIONALITIES THAT ARE NOT YEAT ACCESSIBLE
Perceivable: Textual equivalents missing from images containing relevant information
Accessibility issues / problems: The site has essential images that are not marked with ALT attributes or are not marked as decoration.
Accessibility requirements not met: 1.1.1 Non-text Content
Perceivable: Alternative equivalents for time-based media are missing
Accessibility issues / problems: Not all audio and video content have a text equivalent, and not all videos are subtitled.
Accessibility requirements not met: 1.2.1 Audio-only and Video-only (Prerecorded), 1.2.2 Captions (Prerecorded)
Perceivable: There are problems with the accessibility of the website structure and elements
Accessibility issues / problems: A HTML code has been used to format the content, the title of the text is missing, or a B-, center or I-tags has been used to format the text. On some pages the heading levels H1-H6 have not been used in proportionately.
Accessibility requirements not met: 1.3.1 Info and Relationships
Perceivable: Colours and contrasts used on the website do not fully meet the requirements.
Accessibility issues / problems: In part of the site, colours have been used to design the content, whose contrast is insufficient and where the colour is the only means of conveying information.
Accessibility requirements not met: 1.4.1 Use of Color, 1.4.3 Contrast (Minimum)
Operable: The purpose of the links used on the website is partly unclear
Accessibility issues / problems: The site may have links whose purpose is not clear from the link text or cannot be clarified programmatically.
Accessibility requirements not met: 2.4.4 Link Purpose (In Context)
Robust: Website may have errors in the HTML markup language
Accessibility issues / problems: The site may have errors in the HTML markup language, such as incomplete start and end tags and errors in the nested order of elements.
Accessibility requirements not met: 4.1.1 Parsing

- Content to be used as a teaching material in temporarily with the restricted group
Accessibility has been tested from the point of view of the provided service. If there is material produced by teachers in the course areas that have problems with accessibility, please contact the teacher in question.

This statement was prepared on 18th August 2020 and it’s based on the self-assessment of Xamk - South Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences.
