ACCESSIBILITY STATEMENT FOR XAMK LEARN ENVIRONMENT
An accessible online service is technically reliable and error-free, easy to use, and clear in terms of content for users. South-Eastern Finland University of Applied Sciences strives to ensure the accessibility of its websites in accordance with the Act on the Provision of Digital Services and the EU Accessibility Directive. This accessibility statement applies to the Xamk Learn website.
We are constantly working to improve accessibility and we are committed to improving the accessibility of digital services. In particular, the website needs to be improved on the following issues:
- Text equivalents of images and videos
- Subtitles of videos
- Accessibility of attachments files
We aim to address these shortcomings by providing annual training for users and guidance on how to improve accessibility.
TECHNICAL IMPLEMENTATION
The Xamk Learn learning environment is based on the open source Moodle platform. The website is designed to be compatible with the following browsers (the latest version available in the browser):

- Edge

ACCESSIBILITY OF THE SERVICE
The Xamk Learn website aims to meet levels A and AA of the requirements set out in Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. The website is not fully compliant in all respects.

Some H5P activities contain text blocks where text cannot be resized.

Some pages use incorrect HTML markup, missing headings, or non-semantic formatting. Heading levels are not always used in a logical order.

In the course content block, sub-activities are indicated only visually and are not structurally associated with main activities.

The Grid course format is not fully accessible with keyboard when all sections are displayed on a single page. The “Jump to” dropdown menu is also not keyboard accessible.

The user interface language may differ from the course language, which can affect screen reader functionality.

- Content used temporarily for teaching within a restricted group is excluded from the scope of the legislation.
Accessibility has been assessed from the perspective of the provided service. If accessibility issues are identified in teacher-produced course materials, users are advised to contact the responsible teacher.
